5K Road Race to support Matt Bruce
Several months ago Matt Bruce woke up and realized it was difficult for him to speak without slurring his words. At just 26 years old he has been diagnosed with ALS, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
Since Matt has known his diagnosis he has never once complained or asked "Why Me?" Instead he is focused on raising awareness and spending quality time with his family and friends. He is now faced with the biggest challenge of his life and handling it like a true champion . Matt has more energy and heart then anyone i have ever met in my life.
Bruce has reached his dream of traveling to Ireland with his family and continues to be a wonderful inspiration to all of his family and friends. We want to continue to help support Matt and take any costly burden away from him and his family . We will Never Give Up on finding a cure for ALS and will continue to stand by Matt's side during this trying time.
All money raised for this benefit will be going directly to Matt towards his Home Health Care.

Benefit for Mike Bennett
Mike used to be the drummer in our band The Yard Sale Rejects. We are a local band out in the Metro West area. For the last 7 years, Mike has been suffering from the devastating effects of early-onset Alzheimer's disease. He now resides at The Atrium in Chelmsford where he gets great care and is very comfortable. He now requires round the clock care which is very expensive. His money is going very quickly and he won't be able to stay there when his money runs out. We want to help make Mike's last days as comfortable and happy as possible.
There will be light fare food, raffles and a silent auction to help raise money for Mike. There will also be live entertainment by his former band.

Helping Children Cope in Unsettling Times
Current world events are very unsettling. The war, economic difficulties, and the nation's heightened state of alert can cause justifiable anxiety. The uncertainty of terrorist warnings can be especially unnerving. Children may be confused or fearful that they or their loved ones are at risk. Adults need to help children feel safe, even if they themselves feel vulnerable. Parents and teachers can help children understand what is happening factually, how events do or do not impact their lives, and how to cope with their reactions.
Schools and parents need to assess what level of support children in their care need, but following suggestions may help children cope.
