According to the latest reports from several news sources over 2500 people have died due to earthquakes that happened in Nepal over the weekend. This includes 71 killed by avalanches set off by the quake on Mount Everest.  All hospitals are over capacity and emergency personal have had to treat victims outdoors.  Thousands who have been displaced by the disaster have also been forced to take shelter where they can outdoors in makeshift tent cities.  There are several aid agencies who are responding to the crisis.  If you can, please donate to help their efforts:

The Red Cross:  The Red Cross is already on the scene with blood donation centers as well as medical help.  Donate here.

Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance's Rock the Boat Fundraiser

Rock the Boat is a tasting and music event that will highlight local-dayboat seafood tastings from area restauraunts, live music, chef demos, a fisheries-focused art exhibit, raffle and an auction! The evening will be joined by folk rock singer-songwriter Chelsea Barry and the Bob Marley tribute reggae band, Hope Road.

Ticket price will also include one free drink. Attendees will have a chance to taste the bounty of the ocean, learn about sustainable fisheries, dance to the music and bid on an awesome lineup of auction prizes while raising funds for a great organization.
NAMA works with coastal communities that depend on fishing to protect our marine environment, strengthen local leadership, and give voice to independent, community based fishermen. NAMA advocates for policies that advance social, economic, and environmental justice throughout the entire seafood value chain.

Tickets may be purchased online at  Learn more about NAMA at or call 978-281-6934.
