Run To The Hills: Kids Listen To Iron Maiden For The First Time And Get Really, Really Into it

June 19, 2017

In the past the good folks from the REACT channel on YouTube have introduced kids to some of the greatest bands to ever walk the Earth: MetallicaAC/DCNirvanaRed Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N' Roses to be exact.

So what legendary band will they be listening to next? Why British metal gods Iron Maiden of course!

Children aged 7 to 12 sat down and listened to some of Iron Maiden's greatest hits like "Run To The Hills", "The Number Of The Beast", "The Trooper", "Aces High", "Wasted Years", "Fear of the Dark" and Hallowed Be Thy Name", and gave their honest first impressionss about the band. Some were in love with the level of skill from their drums and guitar playing, as well as Bruce Dickinson's voice with one kid asking if the lead singer was a woman. While others just weren't born to be metalheads.

Some of the kids had good things to say about Iron Maiden:

"Yeah! I like it!"
"The guitar person is really good at it."
"That little drum solo at the end. Spot on."
"It was nice, but crazy!"
"I liked it. I like fast songs."
"It kinda sounds like the Pokémon theme song."

Some other kids weren't really feeling it

"I'm not a fan."
"It's weird."
"Why do they have to have the screaming in the background?"
"I can still see how people like it. I just don't like it."
"What's with the lyrics? It's all yelling about, like death. destruction."

When shown variations of the band's mascot, Eddie, the kids were quick to see the connection between him and the band's music.

"These almost seem like Halloween posters, or something."
"Ah, I can see that. And now I'm going to have nightmares. Great."
"It's like the skulls are staring into my soul and say, 'Buy this album!'"
