MUSIC DIRECTOR'S BLOG

Thursday Music Meeting

Well, here I am, working on my 3rd cup of coffee...

It's Thursday, that means Music Meeting day.

The day when the Programming Dept. gets together to listen to some new music...

Last week, we started playing the latest song from Drowning Pool. After they lost singer Dave Williams, the band went through some tough times... But, now that they have settled in with singer Ryan McCombs (formerly of Soil) the band seems to be finding a groove again. They have evolved their sound a bit... it's got a blues/grunge edge about it...

The song is called 37 Stitches. Let me know what you think, the next time you hear it.

We talked a lot today, about the new Pearl Jam song Brother. It's a new/old song from the Ten recording sessions. An instrumental version was released on Lost Dogs a while back... I heard the song last week, and you can definitley tell it was recorded with all of the other Ten tracks. It has that 'old/rough' Eddie Vedder vocal sound to it. Scroll down in my blogs to get all of the Ten re-issue info. You'll hear the new Pearl Jam on Tuesday, but you never know when I'll get my hands on it before that!!! ;>

Some other new music we listened to today...

Sammy Hagar... Loud! This guy has found the secret to life, that's for sure.

Blue October... Dirt Room. Let me know what you think of this one! I think it's kinda cool, but I'm not sure if you'll like it.

The Answer... On & On. This is the band that opened up for AC/DC at the Garden, and who will be touring with them again this summer. This song rocks... Very Cool.

My Chemical Romance... Desolation Row. It takes BALLS to cover Bob Dylan. This song will be featured on the soundtrack to the new movie Watchmen

As always... let me know what new stuff I should be looking for, and let me know what you think of the music that we are playing! email me: carrie@waaf.com
