MISTRESS CARRIE'S BLOG

Grammy Predictions...

C'mon... I had to do it.

The Grammy's are this Sunday night. (8pm on CBS)

And every year, I laugh at the 'Jethro Tull' Metal Grammy moment!

So, I thought I would 'test' myself and make some picks!

Here's who I'd like to see win, and who I think WILL win!

Well, you'll be happy to know that 'Tull' isn't nominated this year, BUT...they are:

Category 16

Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals
(For duo, group or collaborative performances, with vocals. Singles or Tracks only.)

Â

  • Rock N Roll Train
    AC/DC
    [Columbia]

Â

  • Violet Hill
    Coldplay
Track from: Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends
    [Capitol Records]

Â

  • Long Road Out Of Eden
    Eagles
Track from: Long Road Out Of Eden
    [Eagles Recording Company II]

Â

  • Sex On Fire
    Kings Of Leon
    [RCA Records]

Â

  • House Of Cards
    Radiohead
    Track from: In Rainbows
    [TBD Records]

My Pick:

I gotta go with AC/Dc on this one! After 8 years without a studio album, they come back with the best selling Rock album of the year 'Black Ice'... They gotta win! I hope Angus moons the crowd! Nuthin' like old, hairy, man ass on TV!

Who WILL WIN?

My guess is Kings of Leon...

Category 17

Best Hard Rock Performance
(For solo, duo, group or collaborative performances, with vocals. Singles or Tracks only.)

Â

  • Inside The Fire
    Disturbed
    Track from: Indestructible
    [Reprise]

Â

  • Visions
    Judas Priest
    Track from: Nostradamus
    [Epic]

Â

  • Wax Simulacra
    The Mars Volta
    [Universal Motown]

Â

    [Motley Records/Eleven Seven Music]

Â

  • Lords Of Salem
    Rob Zombie
    Track from: Zombie Live
    [Geffen/UMe]

My Pick?

I'd like to see Disturbed win. They really showed what they are made of this year! They had a 3rd #1 debut album! 2 #1 hit singles... and a huge tour on the way! Disturbed is here to stay!

Who will win?

The Mars Volta... The critics love 'em!

Category 18

Best Metal Performance
(For solo, duo, group or collaborative performances, with vocals. Singles or Tracks only.)

  • Heroes Of Our Time
    DragonForce
    [Roadrunner Records]

  • Nostradamus
    Judas Priest
    Track from: Nostradamus
    [Epic]

  • My Apocalypse
    Metallica

    [Warner Bros.]

  • Under My Thumb
    Ministry
    Track from: Cover Up
    [Megaforce Records]

  • Psychosocial
    Slipknot
    [Roadrunner Records]

My pick?
Here's the only time that I may get my way!
As much as I love Slipknot... I'd like to see Metallica take home the Grammy! After bouncing back from St. Anger and the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame induction on the horizon, I thingk they WILL win too!

Category 21

Best Rock Album
(Vocal or Instrumental. Includes Hard Rock and Metal.)

  • Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends
    Coldplay
    [Capitol Records]

  • Rock N Roll Jesus
    Kid Rock
    [Atlantic]

  • Only By The Night

    [RCA Records]

  • Death Magnetic
    Metallica
    [Warner Bros.]

  • Consolers Of The Lonely
    The Raconteurs
    [Third Man/Warner Bros.]

This category is very eclectic, a bit of everything...
My pick? Well, I'd like to see Metallica take this one too! It's a hell of a field, but I really don't think they'll get 2 Grammy's, so...
Who WILL win?
I think Kid Rock will take it. All Summer Long was a HUGE hit, and his album sold a sh*tload of copies...
and finally, my favorite category!
