Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard 7:06 PM

Monday "LB-Free" Recap!

It's Day One of three LB-free days here at The Hill-man Morning Show.

The LB-easter is out in California undergoing some medical testing.  His plan is to return to the show Thursday.  Greg seems convinced.  I think otherwise.  :)

Did you watch the Grammys last night?  We got mixed reviews this morning.  There were some good segments, but we didn't really feel there was much that blew our hair back.  The overall consensus from texters is that the rock genre is really watered down.  Here are some of the winners we talked about:

Album of the Year:  "Random Access Memories",  Daft Punk

Record of the Year:  "Get Lucky",  Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers

Song of the Year:  "Royals",  Lorde

Best New Artist:  Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Best Rock Song:  "Cut Me Some Slack",  Dave GrohlPaul McCartneyKrist Novoselic & Pat Smear

Best Rock Album:  "Celebration Day",  Led Zeppelin

Best Rock Performance:  "Radioactive",  Imagine Dragons

Best Metal Performance:  "God Is Dead?",  Black Sabbath

Best Alternative Music Album:  "Modern Vampires of the City",  Vampire Weekend

We spoke with Metallica's James Hetfield this morning about tomorrow's DVD release of "Through the Never."  He riffed about the length of time the guys have been touring, what it's like to be a Dad and see acts like Miley Cyrus taking over, and some fun stories about the band.  We'll have the podcast up a little later today if you missed it.  You can find the audio page here.

There's a big debate going on about a proposed bill that would grant driver's licenses to illegal immigrants here in Massachusetts.  The argument is that if illegals were allowed to apply for licenses, then they would have to purchase insurance and satisfy all of the RMV requirements, thus making the roads safer.  It's a pretty heated topic, and you can weigh in on the debate by commenting below, or checking out our Facebook thread on the subject.  We got a surprise call from Rep Keiko Orrall, who is opposed to this bill.  She encouraged those of you who are also opposed to contact your local legislators.  The bill will be presented at a hearing on February 5th.

Also discussed today:

Royal Caribbean managed to stay out of the news for a while.  So much for that.
