If 2018 truly is the year of the woman, then our recent backstage interview with Halestorm is proof that the female presence in rock is a growing force to be reckoned with.

Our own Mike Hsu sat down with both Lzzy and Arejay Hale of Halestorm at the Tsongas Center where they spoke talk about their tour with all female-lead bands and what it is like having so much estrogen in a male-dominated field. "It's amazing because not only is it four female-fronted bands (Halestorm, In This Moment, New Year's Day, Stitched Up Heart) but there are actually thirteen girls total on this tour," says Lzzy Hale. "There is just so much estrogen flying around I don't even know how to handle it!" Arejay joked about how a lot of the men are also on their best behavior. "Everything's a lot cleaner. Everybody puts the toilet seat down. Everyone cleans up after themselves."

Lzzy also expressed her joy of being a role model in the current social climate as proof that girls can truly do anything. "What I'm seeing right now in this tour is that these girls are kind of looking at all of us saying 'Oh, it's possible. This is so cool!'"

Lzzy and Arejay later expressed a lot of positive feedback for producer Nick Raskulinecz on their fourth studio album after previously working with him on their third covers EP ReAnimate 3.0. "He's, I think the first like real, real, real rock producer that we've ever worked with," says Lzzy. "If anything he kept pushing us. He's like 'Oh no, that doesn't rock enough! You gotta rock more.' I'm like, 'Okay... cool. Awesome.'"

Although she couldn't confirm the official release date of their new album, Lzzy reassures Halestorm fans that it will come out "very soon." "We're just kind of in the 11th hour and making sure that we've got all of our ducks in a row too, kind of, to unleash it upon you," says Lzzy. "Every record we try to kind of get it closer and closer to what people see everyday live. I really think this is the most Halestorm record that you're gonna hear from us as of yet."

The Hale siblings then took Mike on a tour of their awesome traveling sound system "Steve," gush over our shared love for Phil Collins, and much, much more. Watch our full interview with Lzzy and Arejay Hale below!
