It is being reported that production for the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has been put on hold after the film's director/producer Bryan Singer had been fired.

It is reported that there was increasingly growing tension between Singer and the film's lead actor Rami Malek (playing Freddie Mercury of Queen), mainly due to Singer's frequent absences and his unprofessional on-set behavior. At one point, cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel was forced to step and and take on the directorial duties in his stead. Actor Tom Hollander, who is slated to play the role of the band's manager Jim Beach, was also rumored to have left the film due to Singer's on-set behavior, though was persuaded to return.

Before their Thanksgiving break, the tension between Singer and Malek erupted to the point where during a confrontation between the two, the director reportedly threw an object at the actor. Although it was said that thee two reconciled their differences, Singer failed to return to the set after the holiday. This absence was the final straw for 20th Century Fox as Singer has been removed from the film's production and is expected to announced a new director in a matter of days.
