Why I Don't Need To See Pictures Of Bin-Laden's Corpse

The number one reason is I don't like looking at dead bodies.  Especially ones that are disfigured.  I don't mind watching a guy getting blown apart in "District 9" or "Saving Private Ryan" because that's a movie.  Even if it's a cold blooded mass murderer like Bin-Laden, I don't want to see it and I don't need to see it.  That's just me.  If I was someone who lost a loved one during the 9/11 attacks or a member of the military that was in combat fighting Al Queda I might feel differently.  I don't have a fanatical blood lust to rejoice over pictures of a dead enemy.  I wouldn't be rushing to post them on facebook or twitter chanting "USA!"  This is a victory for the US in the War On Terror but the war still rages and will for a long time.  With all this being said, the American people should be given the choice.  If it's a matter of exposing the public to graphic images,  they already have the choice of watching several news channels and a few channels dedicated to history, all showing violence in varying degrees.  In the matter of causing further harm to our troops in combat zones or more terrorist attacks on our homeland, those threats were already present before Bin-Laden was killed(or captured if you subscribe to certain theories) "But we need to show the world proof that he is dead!"  No we don't.  There are two reasons why I believe he is either dead or captured.  1. The President Of The United States, no matter who he or she is, would not make such a grand public announcement about it if he or she did not know for sure.  The risk is too great.  This event has such an emotional impact on our country that if the Government was wrong the people would be likely rise up and call for the dismantling of the entire administration.  Not to mention our Allies second guessing our decisions more so than they already do. 2.  We are too close to an election for the President to risk miscalculation.  I feel badly for thinking this but campaigns(Federal and local) show the lengths political parties will go to create and propagate misinformation to win.  If any weakness in the armor is detected the enemy will exploit it to the fullest.(ie: Swift Boats, Drug Use, Birth Certificates, Personal Health)  I believe the team that surrounds the President would never let him go before the nation with an announcement like this unless they were 100% sure.   There is too much power at stake.  Maybe I'm giving too much credit? Osama Bin-Laden was responsible for a great deal of senseless death and destruction.  All of it in full view of the world thanks to great advances in media technology.  I don't need or want to see any more but unfortunately I will.  The idealistic hippie inside me hopes it ends soon.
