I can't believe this is actually happening. I can't believe a state in this Union is dedicating taxpayer dollars to investigating this. Apparently kids are getting "high" off bin-aural audio tones that sound like an angry test tone. The term for this silliness is called "iDosing". I guess everything consumed that is digital has to have the "i" in front of it.(kudos tom the Apple Marketing Team) These tones are supposed to give the user the same high as pot, cocaine, heroine, or any other narcotic the Government wants to use to scare the sheep. I've included a news report below fro Oklahoma, the same state that is ordering it's Drug Enforcement Agency to investigate this. I guess that whole Crystal-Meth problem has been cleared up. Like the woman says in the video, there is "no research" that proves any of the things they or the companies selling this audio claim. It sounds like somebody with some influence who never pays attention to their kid found him twitching with headphones on and a bandanna over his eyes and freaked out. I'm guessing the kid was already on something he stole from his parents medicine or liquor cabinet and the parents didn't want their precious snowflake to be labeled a drug addict. Of course, I had to research it myself. After many attempts to open my mind to this new epidemic, my conclusion is: This is bullshit. I agree that audio, especially music can provoke certain emotions in an individual. I agree that music can be used to sooth the savage drunk at closing time. I agree that when I hear auto-tune vocals it make me want to punch that particular artist. I also agree that any ACDC album + a case of beer= PARTY. But this stuff being like pot or cocaine? These people have obviously never been high on either. I once achieved at least 10 minutes of quality R.E.M. sleep at a Jack Johnson concert. Should he be considered a depressant(in my opinion, yes...again, I am not a Doctor) My uneducated opinion is these kids are so desperate to escape their bad situation that they will themselves to believe they are getting high. Have I ever felt so happy or in love while listening to a song that it has elevated my mood and made me feel invincible? Well, yeah. Have I ever smoked so much pot that I forgot I ordered a pizza and thought the delivery guy was the cops? Unfortunately, yes. But I can tell you this. It doesn't feel the same. The great thing about music is everyone hears it differently. We all have filters that are created by life experiences, taste, opinions, situations, and memories. For example: The song you were listening to when you lost your virginity, or during that crazy weekend on the Cape, or during a car accident. The yahoos looking to get law enforcement involved should also look into banning Glade because kids are huffing that to get high more than iDosing. Also, the companies marketing this as something that will take you to a higher level chemically should cut the crap. Here's your chance to experiment. After you're done, get ready for the smack: Is this a way for Apple to penetrate youthful minds. Load up subliminal messages to buy iProducts? Is it a marketing scheme for the new "Tron" movie? Are the North Koreans trying to damage impressionable eardrums? Not Likely.
