Here's the first offering from the Lou Reed/Metallica collaboration called "Lulu". Based on German Expressionist writer Frank Wedekind's "Lulu Plays". The official "Lulu" website goes into more detail here. Both artists have taken many risks with mixed results in their respective careers. I've only listened to "The View" a couple of times, and as a fan of both Reed and Metallica I find it fascinating. Maybe not their best work but still interesting. I'm sure there will be purists from both camps crying about this and that will, no doubt, be entertaining in itself. Give "The View" a listen and let me know what you think in the comment section below. It's also available for download here. The full album will be out on November 1st.
It's definitely fascinating. Quite the switch from the norm.

Is this a song or someone talking about complete gibberish!!!!!
I didn't think Metallica could sink any lower than their last few albums, but this is def the nail in their coffin. Please just break up, so I can at least hold on to the fact that there was once this GREAT band called Metallica and for over a decade every album they put out was a head banging masterpiece! THIS sounds like my son got together with his friends and they all started playing together for the first time. And the singer had no realy lyrics to sing from so he just started babbling to a heavy beat. I'm begging you, PLEASE JUST BREAK UP!!!!!!

Very interesting combination! When is AAF going to capture the lame Cape Cod radio market? All we have here is 50w WKKL. It's about time WAFF moved south of the bridge!

Amazing.
Why the hell didn't they get together years ago?
I've played this three times straight and truly dig it.
Excellent find!

I personally do not like it. But art is subjective. It must suck to be a successful artist that gets pigeon-holed by their fans. Metallica fans think they should only play heavy and fast, and relive Kill Em All, Lightening and Justice. Lou Reed has his purists too, I'm sure. Opinions are like a**holes- Everyone has one and they all stink.

You know what Devona, it's the FANS who built them into what they are by buying their albums and going to their concerts all through the early years when people like YOU weren't listening to them, and radio stations like THIS weren't playing them. So I'd say those PIGEON-HOLED fans like me have EVERY RIGHT to be critical. Maybe if you were actually around and buying their albums back then you might understand that THIS CRAP isn't Metallica, and Cliff Burton (if you even know who that is) has been rolling over in his grave for over a decade now wondering what the hell happened to the Metallica he knew and helped create. It's garbage, and their last few albums were garbage, and their record sales reflect it. They have clearly lost it, and have been living off the PAST for far too long now without adding to it. The only reason they have even been able to continue to put out albums, is BECAUSE of their past. Otherwise, NO NEW BAND that sounds like this would even get a sniff from any producer, or radio stations. THAT IS THE TRUTH!!!
