Seriously, it only took one person to be armed in that audience to prevent this, or at least lessen it. Now imagine if every member of that audience was. If this guy was this intent on hurting people, and he couldn't get those weapons online or at a store, he would have gotten them off the black market. Gun control takes guns out of decent people hands, and their ability to defend against this, defend against criminals who will still get them anyways. If a criminal goes in to rob a store and sees 5 people with pistols on their hips, one of two things happens, he decides against it and walks away, or he ends up dead. Gun control will only take away law abiding, decent peoples ability to defend themselves when these things happen.

I don't get why a 4 month old and a 4 year old were at a midnight showing of Batman. That is no place for a kid, period. Secondly I don't understand how this guy ran off without his family then he turns around. COWARD!

I believe in the right to carry, but you CANNOT tell me if one or more persons had a gun on their hip that evening, and they tried to "prevent or lessen" this situation, that it would have made a bit of difference. This terrorist was COVERED in Kevlar. You cannot convince me that anyone in a mass chaos situation, in the dark, amidst screaming and people running and hiding, that they could have gotten a clear shot on this guy without hitting any of the innocent and pierce this guy's kevlar and take him out. Sorry. I dont buy it.

Couple of comments here about kevlar body armor adn that an armed citizen would no have made a difference......IT WOULD HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE! Body armor stops penetration......but a round from even a hand gun will still RING YOUR BELL!!!! This sad case is just another situation that proves "when secounds count.....the police are only minutes away"! Keep your right to bear arms America!
