In terms of Heavy Metal, it could be heavier than the massive World War II tank battle at the Kursk Salient.  The Mount Rushmore of Metal.  What some call the Founding Fathers of the genre.  They surely are the greatest survivors.  They have set new standards of alcohol and drug addiction, persevered through members dying, break ups, broken bones, and antics that would impress Jimmie Page.  And that's just Dave Mustaine!  In their collective humble beginnings radio wouldn't play them because they were too extreme(still the case with some today), Videos were relegated to late night air time on Sunday nights.  Their respective record labels gave them minimal support, and parent/church groups plotted their demise.  Even some governments banned them from, not only playing, but entering their Totalitarian strongholds.  Those governments are now gone.  Their leaders executed and their statues torn down.  But the bands remain.   They are now the standard by which all heaviness is judged.   None of their detractors or supporters could have guessed they would still be bashing heads 30 years later. Metallica- Blazing a path with heavy slabs of platinum like "Kill Em' All", "Ride The Lightning", and "Master Of Puppets". Megadeth- Letting their fans know they're not the only ones living a dysfunctional, Paranoid, tortured existence.  Instead of trying to make it right, pursue it with a vengeance. Anthrax- Identifying the malignant bullshit and removing it with sonic precision and a sense of humor. Slayer- Scaring the shit out of the parents of the 60's and feeding on their children. Hopefully this tour will come back to the only place in the world that could create such freaks of nature.  Until then, we thankfully have it all on film.  Evidence that America is not just the greatest country in the world, but also the most fucked up and pissed.
