From Channel 5 BOSTON -- A Groton Marine has been killed in Afghanistan, officials said. The Marine Corps liason to the House of Representatives confirmed Corporal William Woitowicz's death with Rep. Niki Tsongas at about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. Woitowicz, 23, was killed Tuesday in combat in Baghis Province. He was assigned to 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, Marine Special Operations Regiment, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, Camp Lejeune, N.C. As an Army Mom, this is very hard to hear. I am so sorry for the family. RIP Corporal William Woltowicz. Thank you for your sacrifice so I may be free.
