It's 2/1/12! Happy Rush Day!(or as much as their label will let me share here)

It's all about the reaction. Every time I play a Rush song or mention the band I get calls and texts. But they're never just "Hey great tune!" or "These guys suck!". It's always to the extreme. "Thanks for playing Rush! The Greatest Fuckin' band ever in the history of the universe!" or "These guys make me want to stab myself in the ears with scissors so I can never hear them again!". And that is one of the many reasons why they have been around for 25 years, selling out stadiums, making platinum records, building generation upon generation of fans...mostly male...who have a proclivity for air drums and Science Fiction. Never once did they veer from the core formula. They had one change in membership which arguably altered the course of Rock Music. There were a few experiments: "Hold Your Fire", "Roll The Bones", "Battle Scar" with Max Webster. But they always maintained their Rushness. That's why Rush fans are so fierce in their loyalty. Whatever happens in the world there will always be three studio albums and a live album(which actually has changed slightly as of late as they empty their vaults) There will always be a massive drum solo. There will always be three guys who take their music way too seriously but will still put on a fat suit and not be afraid to make asses out of themselves. I will never get tired of listening to "Hemispheres" or "Fly By Night" or "Grace Under Pressure". Please enjoy the exquisite documentary "Beyond The Lighted Stage"(or as much as their label will let me share here) on this 2/1/12.
