In a recent interview, Gene Simmons was asked if he would ever consider performing with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss again. And he said NO. Gene added, quote, "Ace and Peter were great for the beginning of the band, but it would be the death of the band with Ace and Peter today. They were both equally as important as Paul [Stanley] and I for the beginnings of the band . . ." "But not everybody is designed in their DNA to be a marathon runner. They were short-distance runners . . . but we have to take it to the next level. We've been doing this for 40 years. Physically, neither of them could do what we do." "You've gotta 'be there,' with no dark clouds over your head, no drugs or alcohol in your system. They were fantastic for the beginning of the band, and that's the chapter they should [remain] in." Marathon Runners?!?

All Gene and Paul are doing is running KISS into the ground. Eric Singer is a great drummer, and I'm sure that Tommy Thayer is good at something...oh yeah, he was a guitar tech...right? I get it, Eric...it's a steady paycheck, and you've certainly earned it by having to deal with Simmons and Stanley in KISS's "leaner years". I've got to tell you- That "Monster" book is an INSULT to the fans. For $4,000 , it should have Pete and Ace's autographs...and yeah, if Eric wants to sign it, why not? Thayer's just lessens the book's value for me. GENE & PAUL: PLEASE do the right thing and stop this s**t. It's bad enough that you're touring with this guy, but recording 2 albums of s**t that sounds like it was written for Crazy Nights?

Crazy Nights didn't suck all that bad. at least it was honest for the times. Monster sounds like they're bein' heavy to cover up their age. Singer ain't so bad but Thayer is a joke.

Marathon's are usually a positive thing

Crazy Nights and Hot In The Shade are a disgrace to the KISS legacy. The Elder is always brought up as the "lousy KISS album," but when the band put out Crazy Nights, I turned my back on them. When Hot In The Shade was released, I was even more disgusted. UNMASKED is a better album than those two piles of poor attempts at "pop hits." I guess too much money is never enough. Selling your souls obviously comes with a hefty price. Take the freakin make up off and stick to your overpriced cruises. Thayer makes KISS look cheap. I'm with the above poster... at least singer paid his dues, joining the band when it was on life support. Thayer is nothing but a stage-hand, video editor, food fetcher, Black N Blue guitarist. Not worthy of KISS. The guy is a total DRAG.

Cover Band

I'm sorry but either give Tommy and Eric their "own" make up characters or hang it up. I've been a fan since 70's with different line ups but this is a JOKE. Both Tommy and Eric are good but when they actually start acting like Ace and Peter its insulting....cover band. Here is an Idea...and Mr. Simmons can even make money out of it and perhaps even gain a bit of respect. Admit that the Cover group was wrong to both Ace, Peter, Tommy and Eric...ask fans to submit their ideas for their new characters and give winners a front row seat. I find it also insulting when they make comments that Ace and Peter are not musically up to the challenge. PLEASE!!! Yes, Eric and Tommy may even be better then Peter or Ace BUT guess what??? Gene and Paul aren't that great either. For some reason their egos won't allow themselves to look in the mirror.........but mark my words....there will come a time when the two of them will step away and "Kiss will be too big to retire, it has to go on" and they will hire their own replacements for the Demon and Star Child..... Fan no more

how can u say KISS is dead?!dnt even say ur a KISS fan cuz ur not.!!!if ur a fan than ur a fan,u cant just stop.yes it wouldve been nice to have ACE and Peter in the band thru the entir 80s & 90s and even now but thats just not the case!!!!!!KISS FAN4 LIFE!!!!

The best stuff will always be with the original lineup. The 80's were not too bad, but Kiss became a hair band, a lot like many others. Carr will always be the best drummer, talent wise and Kulick, in my opinion, was very good. But the material since the old makeup days was just not as well written, Creatures was the best album of that era. Peter and Ace added a style that others have not. It's like comparing Angus Young to Eddie Van Halen. Eddie has more pure talent, but Angus has much, much more style.
