A lesson learned from the Grammy show last night

I was accused of being a racist this morning by a texter who said I shouldn't criticize the choice of Chris Brown as a performer during the Grammy telecast last night, without criticizing the choice to honor Glen Campbell. You know what, they were right! Yes, we all know Chris Brown bashed Rhianna's face in three years ago and I, personally, find it freakin bizarre that she is supposedly back with him now. However, it is well known that Glen Campbell did the same to Tanya Tucker for many years during their tumultuous relationship and I should have said the same thing. I guess it's easier to forgive as the years pass and to forget. And I guess maybe what someone does in their personal life should have nothing to do with whether they are honored for their musical achievement. If you read the tweets floating around this morning, there are apparently a ton of women who think he's so hot, they don't mind that kind of thing. Where should the Grammy organization draw the line? Do they have any obligation to impressionable men (and women) to reward only those who have led a stellar life? Would they be able to find anyone to nominate? Maybe there should be a five year moratorium on nominating spousal batterers. If you can keep yourself out of jail on assault charges for five years, hell yes, we'll nominate you for a Grammy! For whatever reason, and it's not because I'm a racist, Chris Brown's nomination, win and performances annoyed the piss out of me. And Glen Campbell's did not.
